Colorless, low volatility liquid. Freezing point -8.1°C, boiling point 214-215°C, 89°C (1.33 kPa), relative density (20.5/4°C) 0.9255, refractive index (nD18) 1.4766. It is miscible with most organic solvents and can dissolve 1.2g in 100g water. Exposure to dimerization, oxidation in the air to produce 4,4,6-trimethyl-1,2-cyclohexanedione. There is a camphor-like smell.
